The appellant was employed by the respondent on 19th January, 1977 as a Technical Officer in its Works Department and by August, 1984 had risen to become the Principal Technical Officer. By letter dated 10th May, 1987 the respondent terminated the appellant's employment paying him one month's salary in lieu of notice and without adducing any reason. The appellant challenged his termination in court seeking reinstatement by order of court and payment of all his entitlements. After the trial the learned trial Judge considered the evidence and dismissed the appellant's claim. The appellant appealed to the court of Appeal.
